Taniesa Christina Velez is the founder and principal attorney at Velez Law, PLLC. She began her career working in boutique law firms specializing in personal injury, family law, criminal law, and civil litigation in San Diego, California. Ms. Velez has participated in a range of practices areas from complex civil litigation issues to personal injury cases that left clients severely injured at the hands of companies and government entities.

Ms. Velez earned her Juris Doctor from Thomas Jefferson School of Law, graduating under the fast track program in two years. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Economics, with a concentration in Finance from California State University, Bakersfield. She obtained her Associate of Arts in Business Administration from Bakersfield College in Bakersfield, California.

Ms. Velez represents clients on all dockets in Jefferson Family Courts including circuit, dependency, neglect and abuse, paternity, and the domestic violence dockets. She also served as an appointed Guardian ad Litem (GAL), as well as appointed as a Parent’s Attorney, advocating for the best interest of children in dependency, neglect, and abuse cases. Most notably, in 2022 she was named to the National Black Lawyers Top 40 Lawyers Under 40 in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. She also received the prestigious nomination for the 2023 Best of the Best Top 10 Family Law Attorneys award. Her dedication to the practice of family law has been recognized with this esteemed recognition.

Ms. Velez was born and raised in California, then became a Kentucky resident in 2018. She is a Puerto Rican first generation attorney, and very proud of her latina roots. In her free time, she enjoys athletic activities and spending time with her family and friends.
