Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen Divorce: How They Split the Assets

The sports world was in shock at the end of October when NFL star quarterback Tom Brady and Brazilian supermodel Gisele Bündchen announced that they had ended their 13-year marriage. What was even more shocking was that they had already filed for divorce, and their divorce was actually finalized on the same day of the announcement.

How could things have moved so quickly? Most people are still trying to finalize the details of their divorce after six months. Were Brady and Bündchen able to keep things quiet for so long, or did they just agree on everything at warp speed?

Most high-asset divorces are contested to some degree, as there are so many elements (and assets) involved. The terms of Brady’s and Bündchen’s divorce settlement will remain confidential and sealed, so we will never know exactly how the assets were split. However, since they had two young children involved (a 12-year-old son and a 9-year-old daughter), they worked hard to make the divorce drama-free. The divorce was uncontested, plus there was a prenuptial agreement in place, so that definitely made things easier and quicker.

On top of that, the couple worked with a mediator. Mediation is quicker and cheaper than battling out in the courtroom. It is excellent for helping couples work through disagreements regarding various aspects of a divorce, such as asset divisions, child custody, and alimony.

While it is unknown if alimony is a factor in the divorce, neither party needs it. The net worth of Brady, 45, is estimated to be at least $250 million (with some sources saying closer to $350 million) as a quarterback for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Bündchen, 42, is supposedly worth even more, at $400 million. This is not surprising, given that she has been named the highest-paid supermodel in the world 14 times. Besides her work with Victoris’ Secret, she has appeared in numerous TV commercials.

The couple does have an impressive portfolio of real estate properties. Together, Brady and Bündchen have multiple homes worth a total of $26 million. Their most recent purchase was a $17 million home on Indian Creek Island in Miami that they bought in 2020.

They also own three other homes in New York City, Montana, and Costa Rica. The Montana home is located in the exclusive Yellowstone Club development, which caters to the rich and famous. Condos in the area range from $6 million to $30 million. The Costa Rica home is used as a vacation retreat.

It can be complicated to split the property in a high-asset divorce. Fortunately, Brady and Bündchen had a prenuptial agreement in place and could divide assets quickly and amicably. This is certainly not the norm, but hopefully, celebrities and others with a high net worth will take note.
